Why are Canadians so Tolerant?

Another one from Catherine, I think it fitting...

Can you imagine working for a company that has a little more than 300 Employees and has the following statistics?

  • 30 have been accused of spousal abuse.
  •  9 have been arrested for fraud.
  • 14 have been accused of writing bad cheques.
  • 95 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses.
  •  4 have done time for assault.
  • 55 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit.
  • 12 have been arrested on drug related charges.
  •  4 have been arrested for shoplifting.
  • 16 are currently defendants in lawsuits.
  • 62 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year!

Can you guess which organization this is?

Believe it or not! IT IS......

OUR ELECTED 301 MEMBERS of PARLIAMENT OF CANADA *

Yes, the very same group that cranks out hundreds of new laws designed to

keep the rest of us "in line"!

Which one did you vote for?.

* TAKEN FROM THE OTTAWA CITIZEN

I just want to add, that I have been unable to find corraborative evidence... ie... Can someone point me to the article in the Ottawa Citizen that says this?  I want to tape it to my desk. :)

Our pretty cool weekend

Our pretty cool weekend, started when we slept in. The kids didn't even bother us for breakfast... which is a bad thing. They have a tendancy to feed themselves if left to their own devices. Here in the first image, is Scotty's idea of getting breakfast for Saben... chocolate syrup in bed. We found Saben covered in chocolate, and his bed, and his blankets... and... and... and. I had to put him in the shower before we could do anything with him. He loved it.
So then I took Sarah to her ballet class and afterwards had a quick BBq before we headed out to the County's maple celebrations. First stop was Campbell's Orchard where the kids laughed at the pigs and played on the swings.
Next we headed down the road to Hubb's Sugarbush. To get there we stopped atthe roadside shop where we purchased some maple flavoured stuff and grabbed some maps. Then we jumped on the tractor-drawn wagon and rode to the shack. We missed the pancake breakfast which was offered by Lake Lodge AF&AM #215 but we did get to see the shack and walk the lanes a little. The kids had lots of fun in the piles of leaves and with their walking sticks.
After the shack, we took the long route to Wellington (the kids got some well earned sleep) where we stopped at the Copper Kettle Chocolate Factory and bought some Bavarian coffee beans and maple hot chocolate... which mysteriously didn't taste like maple. (hmmm).
Once we got the kids home, Bert and I changed and leaving my mother in charge of the kids, we headed out to our friend April's Wedding Shower / Redneck / Irish kitchen party. Roberta and I danced the place down and there was an incident where one fellow drank a bit much and was left in a car to sleep it off, covered in whipped cream and vomit. hehehe, I won't say who. If you were there, you probly took pictures.
We had a great time doing all sorts of things and asking all sorts of questions and eating all sorts of things made with maple. I almost forgot about the KFC dinner in Delhi Park (Picton) yeah... lots of fun. anyway, here's to our next adventure, whenever and wherever it may be.

This is how business is done

In this current economic crisis, we have no alternative but to reduce
our staff. We'll have to lay off Andre.

Thanks again to Aunt Catherine
for her awesome sense of humor!

Greg Wants

I realize I posted this on my facebook once, but then only facebook can see it... so I deleted the FB post and reposted to my blog so that everyone can see it.

I thought the Greg Needs Idea wasn't too bad. So here's my impromptu "Greg Wants" list. Same as before type your first name and the word 'wants' into your favorite search engine then take the time clean out the junk between all the statements to get something like this

ie "Greg wants" (google) click search

I get the following 20 statements:

Greg wants to be a balla
Greg wants to be a Rockstar
Greg wants revenge
Greg wants Disney To Go Green
Greg wants U
Greg wants to Talk About Speaking in the Third Person
Greg wants your Best SMS / SCCM Queries...
Greg wants to host the ESPYs
Greg wants Internet Censorship
Greg wants YOU For the Cardiff Rose Swordsmen Guild!
Greg wants to feel a part of things
Greg wants to go to flagler
Greg wants to make a difference
Greg wants to share the wealth
Greg wants to surf
Greg wants to believe he's a winner
Greg wants to try Sushi Samba on Seventh
Greg wants to join with the neighbours
Greg quiere matarse en ... Literally: Greg wants to kill on his face ...

that last one was real... I had to put the whole thing up to make any sense. anywho, try it yourself and maybe come up with some other cool searches

examples:
Greg likes
Greg hates
Greg flys
Greg carries
Greg runs

try em

Waiter, there's a Blog in my alphabet soup!

Again, I'm Blogging from mail. I'm liking this as a far more efficient input system. Having to log in and constantly preview the work and trying to make the picture just right... such a hassle.

Grand Master of AF&AM of Canada in the Province of Ontario visited our little lodge this month. It was quite the honour. He seems like a nice guy too. He and a group of Grand Lodge persons all came to honour and award one of our own with the William H. Mercer Medal. It's a lifetime achievement thing.

Any who. I didn't get to wear green yesterday. I was too tired to look for any.

Other things to report... Sarah is doing a week-long swimming thing for March break. Includes bowling on Thursday and pizza on Friday.

I hope everyone is doing well and always watching this feed so you can keep up on our lives.

Comming up:
April Fools Day!! I want to hear all about everyone's antics!

Easter!! April 12, I don't know. If anyone wants to get together, make the kids search for chocolate eggs or something, let us know.

Brain Cells Can Upload Too

Here's my first email blog attempt. Hoping I can make it look nice too!
If this works, I'll have to teach Roberta how to do it on her Blog

Lets see how it goes... shall we?

So again... I've included Roberta in the wonderful world of "things Greg does for whatever reason".  I've started her very own blog (http://robertadenyes.blogspot.com/).  I hope she gets to use it like she always says she wants to do things.

It's the perfect opportunity for her to publish, easily.  Roberta read the first post, but she hasn't seen the page at all.  She's doing our taxes right now.  I'll let her be.  I'm almost half way through the Jordan's Wheel of Time #2 the Great Hunt.

I've read the series since highschool but I've forgotten most of it, skipped the boring parts (which now I realize was a big mistake) and the last book is comming out soon;  I want the story fresh in my mind when I FINALLY complete the series.

My Hand @ Low Voltage

Almost 10 years ago, I worked for InfoMation Systems in Picton and was introduced to low voltage wiring. Namely network printer cables.  I really liked using the Cat 5e Crimper and proceeded to make more cables than we needed.  Like I said, FUN.

A few years later Carl called me up and said he needed help wiring a house for networking.  Every room in this mansion was to have Phone/Data & Network Cables built right in the walls like a hotel.  I had a riot crimping RJ-45 & RJ-11 cables all day and got paid for it.  I learned about the Leviton QUICKPORT system and fell in love with how easy it was to hide the networking cables in the walls... unlike my home with Phone lines, Network and Satelite cables hung over doors and taped across floors.  From then on, my dream of building my own house included a sophisticated networking and A/V wiring scheme.
So 2 days ago, our phones stopped working... then 30 minutes later our DSL stopped working.  Roberta was FURIOUS! I raced off to Home Depot to see what they had for wiring and found that they had set up a new display of Leviton parts and ports.  I was in heaven.  It took me an hour to stop taking things off the shelf I didn't need and only buy the parts I required.  Then I get the call that the only thing wrong with our lines was the DSL Filter/Spliter. aparently a cat had decided that we spent too much time online, so she peed on it.  The green rust inside the filter was a direct result of a direct hit of feline acidic urine.  Gross.  But the worst news was, I didn't need to rewire the whole house.  That meant I had to put all the cool toys back on the shelf.  But I didn't.
I kept one.  We have miles of cable that was damaged in our disasterous home style wiring and it all could use some new ends.  So I kept the Crimper.  hehehe.  I also decided that leaving a filter out under the office desk was just an invitation for the cats to do it again, so I pulled up the cables where it was stapled to the wall trim, cut a hole where the phone service entered the office, and placed a new recepticle bracket & faceplate.  Now the splices and filter are behind the wall.  Unless you've ever seen a fixed queen pee sideways, this will never happen again!

And!!! I also found the deposits she left behind the desk... that's why the office never smelled right.
:P

Playing with Cameras

No moral to this story, no lesson nor teaching.  I was simply playing with my camera and trying to keep the kids busy at the same time. The picture turned out nice enough and it makes it out to look like I have twins & triplets. I'd die...

I used the panoramic feature of my Finepix S1000fd so that I could take 1 picture with 3 different shots and get my kids to move each time so they looked like they were in all these places at the same time.  I used this technique once before but it was in the back yard and did NOT turn out nearly as well as this one.

In case you're wondering, this is the training room at EcoSense where I work. The boxes contain Rainbows... if you want to know more about them... ask me.
