An Unlikely Visitor

Say hello to our new friend Rusty. She's a cardinal, and cardinals don't come around here very often. In fact, when we had birds outside our home in Sophiasburg, cardinals only visited once in a 7 year span. That makes 2 visits in as many decades.

Rusty was enjoying a seed feed at our red barn feeder hanging from our back porch. I took this picture 10 feet from and through our slightly dingy glass garden door. She still saw me and only stuck around long enough for one more shot... not a good one at that.

Cardinals are notoriously shy birds, more like the finch than the jay they may resemble.
